A BIT ABOUT US
Connecting People to People
Berlin to Borders is an organisation that grew out of the private initiative of a group of artists, immigrants and citizens of Berlin who wanted to help Ukraine when the Russian invasion began on February 24, 2022.
Over time, many people joined the initiative, donors who trusted this group of people and wanted to help Ukraine through our efforts.
This amazing support allowed Berlin to Borders to develop two core projects: our Solidarity Shop and Gemeinsam4Ukraine.
Through the Solidarity Shop, Berlin to Borders has already been able to help more than 1000 families who came to Berlin when the war started and who have lost everything they could not carry with them. The aim of the Solidarity Shop is to support these families and provide them with clothing, hygiene items and food. This project is also a platform to build a community and a network for sharing important information.
The Gemeinsam4Ukraine initiative was started by a group of migrant women who then joined the Berlin to Borders organisation to increase the impact of their work. A system of constant deliveries to different parts of Ukraine, especially in the east of the country, has been developed since the start of the war. To date, we have been able to help more than 50,000 people. We support children's centres, hospitals, refugee centres, animal shelters, villages, rehabilitation centres for disabled patients, paramedics and soldiers with food, medicine, hygiene items, clothing and survival equipment.
All this was made possible thanks to our supporters, who recognised the value of our efforts and commitment.
As intermediaries, we are in constant contact with two realities:
The impact of working together and strengthening a community within the organisation that is mostly international, that it is compassionate, tolerant, empathetic and supportive.
On the other hand we see the fear, the frustration, the sadness and the disorientation of the people who lost everything in their country and fled to Berlin without direction.
We put our energy and effort into providing them with the basics to survive and to let them know that they are not alone, that we are not indifferent.
